Tufts University is a mid-sized private research university located just outside of Boston in Medford, MA. Tufts has three schools: the School of Arts and Sciences, the School of Engineering, and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts (SMFA). The average student at Tufts spends 15 hours a week in class, which leaves plenty of time for extracurricular activities and socializing with friends.
Tufts has been known to come up with some quirky supplemental essay prompts, including: “Celebrate your nerdy side”, “What makes you happy?”, “Are we alone?”, and “What does #YOLO mean to you?”
Famous alumni include comedian /actor Hank Azaria, singer Tracy Chapman and actor Rainn Wilson.

Diversity: Tufts is known for its diverse student body and faculty. The campus is a mixture between a small liberal arts college and a major research university. Students can learn from peers with different backgrounds and perspectives, which can enhance their education and personal growth.
ExCollege: The ExCollege is a department at Tufts University that offers innovative undergraduate elective courses. They hire visiting lecturers with a wide range of expertise to teach courses that are not typically offered in a traditional academic setting.
Traditions: Tufts has several unique traditions, including "the Cannon," which students paint for every cause imaginable.
Location: Tufts has four locations in Medford, Somerville, Grafton, and Boston. Students can take advantage of everything Greater Boston has to offer without straying far from campus. Many Tufts students complete internships in Boston during the academic year and over the summer.

The Class of 2027 had a 9.5% overall acceptance rate. Tufts requires either the SAT or ACT for first-year applicants. Students who are admitted have an average SAT score between 1440-1550 or an average ACT score of 33-35.
