Welcome to our second stop on our college road trip. From the west coast to the east coast in a day! I had the opportunity to tour Emerson in the summer of 2022 and found it be quite charming. Take a look.

Emerson College: Where Creativity Meets the Heart of Boston

If colleges had personalities, Emerson College would be the artsy kid in the group, sipping oat milk lattes and brainstorming their next big project. Nestled in the heart of Boston, MA, Emerson is a private college with a laser focus on communication and the arts—all wrapped up in a liberal arts bow. Here’s why this place stands out:

1. The Creative Capital

At Emerson, creativity isn’t just encouraged; it’s basically a prerequisite. Offering top-tier programs in everything from comedic arts to sports communication (yes, that’s a thing), Emerson’s got you covered if you’re ready to unleash your inner writer, filmmaker, journalist, or PR whiz. Think of it as Hogwarts for artistic muggles—minus the flying brooms.

2. The City is Your Campus

Forget a bubble—Emerson puts you right in the middle of Boston’s urban energy. With the city’s cultural scene at your fingertips, you’ll never be bored. Plus, those cobblestone streets and historic landmarks make for top-tier Instagram backdrops. Internships, networking, and unbeatable seafood chowder? Emerson students get it all.

3. Inclusivity FTW

Diversity and inclusivity aren’t just buzzwords here; they’re baked into the Emerson experience. Whether it’s through academic programs, student orgs, or campus culture, Emerson makes sure everyone feels like they belong—because being your true self is what creativity thrives on.

4. Hands-On Hustle

Textbooks are cool, but real-world experience is where it’s at. Emerson students dive into hands-on learning opportunities that prep them for their dream gigs. Internships, collaborative projects, and that sweet Boston location mean students get a head start on their careers while their peers at other colleges are still figuring out how to work the printer.

5. Affordable Excellence

In the world of higher education, Emerson offers a rare combo: a top-notch education without breaking the bank. Tuition is consistently lower than its competitors, which means you can chase your artistic dreams without selling your soul—or at least not too much of it.

By the Numbers

Emerson College offers 27 bachelor’s degrees and has a total undergraduate enrollment of 3,708—small enough to know your professors but big enough to find “your people.” The acceptance rate for the Class of 2024 was 45%, with average SAT scores landing between 1200-1400. If you’re in that range, congrats! You’re one step closer to calling Boston home.
