Pomona College is a liberal arts college located in Claremont, California. It was incorporated on October 14, 1887, by a group of Congregationalists who wanted to recreate “a college of the New England type” on the West Coast.

Ninety-four percent of Pomona students live on campus all four years, and many professors live within five miles of campus. This creates a close-knit community where new collaborations or discussions can spring up anywhere - a dorm, club meeting, or at lunch with a professor. The 140-acre campus is designed to offer students a beautiful landscape in which to live, learn, and discover.

Notable alumni include Kris Kristofferson (singer), Richard Chamberlin (actor) and Roy Disney (he was the real brains behind the Disney empire).

Here are some unique aspects of Pomona College:

  • Commitment to financial aid: Pomona College is committed to meeting the full demonstrated financial need of all students who enroll.

  • Collaboration with other colleges: As the founding member of The Claremont Colleges, Pomona shares resources with four other top undergraduate colleges and two graduate institutions located within a square mile.

  • Small class sizes: The average class size at Pomona is 15, providing an intimate learning environment.

  • Culture of inclusivity: Pomona College has a culture of inclusivity, where students embrace new ideas, take initiative, ask questions, and challenge the status quo.

  • Personal attention: Pomona College offers the personal attention of a small liberal arts school with accessibility to professors and staff.

  • Beautiful campus: Pomona College has a beautiful campus designed by the same architect who designed Stanford, Occidental College, and the Hollywood Bowl.

  • Opportunities for intellectual exploration: Pomona College provides an ideal environment for intellectually curious students to pursue their academic and life goals.

  • Orientation Adventure: Pomona College has an Orientation Adventure program that allows students to explore the outdoors and bond with their peers before the start of the academic year.

  • Flexibility in course selection: Pomona College students can take up to 50% of their classes at one of the neighboring Claremont Colleges

Pomona College’s acceptance rate is 7%. Half of the applicants admitted to Pomona College have an SAT score between 1470 and 1570 or an ACT score of 33 and 35.
