Here are some unique features of Claremont McKenna College:
Location: The college is located on a scenic, tree-lined residential campus 30 miles east of Los Angeles. It is a member of The Claremont Colleges, a seven-college consortium modeled after Oxford University. CMC students choose from more than 2,200 classes and participate in co-curricular activities with 7,000 other students at Harvey Mudd College, Pitzer College, Pomona College, and Scripps College, as well as the Claremont Graduate University and Keck Graduate Institute.
Real-world mission: The college's strong, real-world mission educates students for thoughtful and productive lives and roles of responsible leadership. Admission to the college is need-blind and emphasizes the demonstration of leadership accomplishments.

Wilderness Orientation Adventure trips: CMC welcomes freshmen to campus with Wilderness Orientation Adventure trips.
Joint curriculars: CMC's proximity to Los Angeles and joint curriculars with the other six member schools of The Claremont Colleges allows students to tailor their education and access the resources of a large university while still building close relationships with faculty. For example, the Philosophy, Government, and Economics programs have "three courses dedicated to weekly one-on-one debates and paper exchanges in tutorials," and an economics class uses "a digital simulator where we can simulate economic concepts in class in a game-like interface".
Supportive administration: The administration is incredibly supportive, and there are "counseling, tutoring, career services, and many resources and locations for students to just go to whenever they need to talk about anything".
